Kristin Marie is an identical twin who lives in Philadelphia. She’s a yoga instructor and mental health therapist and was one of the first twins that we ever talked to about this project. She welcomed Nicole into her cozy home in Fishtown a few weeks ago to chat about her experiences growing up as identical twin and her relationship with her sister, Amanda. (Who recently had a baby! Congrats Amanda!) Thanks so much for talking with us, Kristin, and for sending us great photos of you and your sister!
After not being in the same place at the same time for ages, we managed to get together less than a few months after our last recording! This time it was a SUPER short pre-holidays trip for Alexis to the East Coast. Not a ton of time for recording or experimenting, but we managed to get a little podcast work done.
We learned about the taste test strips from this episode of Gastropod. (You can buy them online! Try it out for yourself!) Music in this episode is by Podington Bear. Our theme music is 'Big Bad Good' by My Bubba. Thanks to our brother Mike (of Free Flight Lab, there’s your shout-out, haha) and Nicole’s husband Chris for playing along and letting us record it!
We’re on the same coast! In this episode we take advantage of some rare time in the same place to do some in-the-field (literally) experimenting and answer some questions we’ve been asked.
Music in this episode is from the Free Music Archive, by Podington Bear. Our theme music is 'Big Bad Good' by My Bubba. Thanks to our callers Alison and Tiffany, and to everyone who came to our party and listened to us babble about twin things!
Our Aunt Lou brought some great photos of us from our first birthday. Bonnets? Sure why not?
Here’s some video of our Very Scientific Test :-P
Somehow, neither one of us remembered to get a photo together! So here are my tourist photos of entertaining myself in Seattle.
Last episode we included a little bit of an interview we did with our Mom, artist Chris Carter. In this episode we play you more from that interview, talking with her about what it was like finding out she was pregnant with twins and what it was like raising two identical twin girls. (We don’t get into it in the interview, but we also have a brother! His name is Mike and he’s 18 months younger than us. He’s a super rad human, but since we’re focusing on twins and multiples, we kept this conversation to her experience as a mom of twins.)
We said we were tiny, right? Here's some itty bitty baby photos to prove it:
Here's some information about the tendency to 'spiral' when trying to walk in a straight line. We'll have to test to see if mirror image twins really do veer off in opposite directions like we've been told! We'll update you when we do.
Thanks for listening!
Our first full episode is finally done! Check it out:
